We used to call them tick flowers b/c whenever you’d walk by one, it’d have a big old fat dog tick on it. And if you brushed against it, the tick would get on you and manage to work its way up into the hair behind your ear, bite you, and suck your blood until it got really fat and you’d have to pull it off with a pair of pliers or burn it with an extinguished match until it let go or drown it in rubbing alcohol. Queen Anne’s lace. That was in North Carolina.

    Best,
    Jim H.
